He was a policeman, an electrician, business owner, farmer, coon dog hunter, horse lover and a fisherman. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Ashmore, son-in-law Pete Matuskevich, son Matthew Ashmore, daughter-in-law Chris Ashmore, son Ricky Ashmore, and only granddaughter Amanda Matuskevich.īorn in Ludowici, GA in 1937, he led a life of adventure. Ashmore of Kent, NY passed away just one week of shy his 87th birthday, joining his wife Clarissa “Sissy” Ashmore. She is also survived by her dear lifelong friend and Ruby Lawson who was like her sister.KENT - Capt. Great-grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Summer Curtis, Errin Curtis, Brielle Smith and Jaxson Amaya. Grand children Kristi Fincher, Rebecca Curtis and husband Bill, Martha Fincher, Lillian Fincher, Justin Kragt and Alissa Amaya and husband Mike, and Jason Darling. She is survived by her children:_Harold Louis Fincher Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Harold, her parents and infant brother Louis Barton who died shortly after birth. 6, 2015 at the age of 82 while being cared for at Rest Haven. Edith left this world and those that loved her Jan. Many dear friendships were developed over the years, and she loved helping out in the kitchen on Senior lunch day where she could work and laugh with all the workers who were her Church Family.Įdith received amazing and excellent care at Oak Crest (Bay Point) as well as excellent loving care at Rest Haven Care Facility. Many happy times were spent during Deer season when all family, relatives and friends headed into the woods.Įdith was a proud and faithful member of The First Methodist Church in Holland. She and Harold spent a lot of time up north in Newaygo County where Harold loved to be and she enjoyed the bird feeders and seeing deer in the fields. When the General Electric plant was built in Holland she worked there for 37 years until her retirement in l992.Įdith was a loving mother and grandmother who always put her family first and enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Harold and Edith resided in Holland their entire married lives and though they were both from Corbin, they were Michiganders through and through.Įdith worked at the first Russ’ restaurant as well as Heinz. They later brought Michael Kragt into the fold and made him part of the family after his parents passed away. They both worked hard and raised their three children Harold L. Harold Fincher, returning from Germany in 1948 after four years in the Army, began courting Edith and they eloped on Dec. Her mother Martha reluctantly joined them in their migration North. Her mother was Martha Ann Barton and her father was Ralph Bunch.Īt the age of 15 in December of 1947 she traveled to Holland, Michigan as she and her cousin June Monhollen had signed up to work at H.J. ![]() Edith was born in Corbin Kentucky on January 13, 1932. ![]() She also had strong religious convictions that began with her childhood influence of her grandmother Margaret J. She was a strong woman who faced adversities in life and overcame them through hard work and determination. Edith Rae Fincher was a faithful wife and loving mother to her children. ![]()
